What the checker is actually doing

Peptide content

Measured by amino acid analysis or nitrogen determination. It already nets out the counterion, the water and the residual solvent, so a jar at 78% content is 78% peptide before purity is considered at all. Trifluoroacetate salts sit far lower than acetate.

HPLC purity

Area percent across the chromatogram, measured on a peptide basis. This is the number most suppliers lead with, and on its own it says almost nothing about what you are buying by weight.

The two multiply

Content times purity gives the fraction that is usable peptide. Applying only one of them is the most common costing error in this market, and it consistently favours the supplier with the heavier salt.
